When the WCS team dropped me a note asking ‘can we video a Bugatti Veyron versus Rimac Concept_One drag race?’ it took less time to decide than the world’s fastest electric supercar needs to sprint to 60mph.
The Veyron’s arrival caused quite a stir at the Rimac factory when we rolled it off the transporter…
The stats-blitzing Bugatti Veyron has 1001bhp, and has been title holder of the World’s Fastest Car for more than a decade. As the keeper of a hypercar that is the heavyweight of heavyweights (in more than one sense!), and the ‘Top Trumps’ ace card, this was a challenge that couldn’t be refused!
The Rimac Concept_One is not only the world’s quickest electric car, but potentially the quickest supercar ever made… full stop! The fact that it runs on batteries and is the brainchild of a 28-year-old entrepreneur called Mate Rimac whose company is based in Croatia, made the prospect even more intriguing.
Trucking a Veyron to Zagreb in mid-winter in a 20-year-old transporter caused a few trials and tribulations, but a road trip isn’t a road trip without a few hiccups, and we arrived at the Rimac factory on schedule.
The fight called, the contenders in the ring, it was time for the King of Hypercars to meet its latest challenger. As you can see, the Veyron’s arrival caused quite a stir amongst the Rimac factory workforce when we rolled it off the transporter – now the duel was definitely on…
(And yes, we made a lot of videos. This one’s just a teaser, so stay tuned for more!)
